Explanation of "company number" in Germany:
The ‘Betriebsnummer des Arbeitgebers’ is the company number assigned by the federal employment office. This is an eight-digit number that is used by health insurers, among others, to identify the company. Your company number is also required for the formation of the official employment statistics, which in turn are used to divide the municipalities' share of the turnover tax.
An ‘Bezeichnung der zuständigen Berufsgenossenschaft’ is an appointment of a professional association that is relevant to your company. In Germany it is compulsory for both employers and employees to be members of a professional association. These professional associations are part of the German social security system and bear, among other things, the statutory accident insurance.
The ‘Krankenkasse für die Umlage’ is also compulsory because of the laws surrounding social security in Germany. This concerns the official establishment of a health insurance to which your company pays the legally required surcharge.
The ‘Deutsche Steuernummer des Arbeitgebers’ is the tax identification number of employers. Any company that wants to take on German employees must first register with the government in order to obtain such a number.
